A vietnamese dragon god who saved the people of Linh Nam from monsters, As stated by the author of "myths and Legends of South Asia and Southeasy Asia". Not only did Lac Long Quan saved the people from monsters, but he also taught them how to build homes, cook and make clothes. As a reward for his kindess, the people of Linh Nam built him a castle in his honor in the mountains. While he was grateful, he longed for the sea. So he left, vowing to come to the people's aid should they call for him.

There is another tale involving Lac Long Quan from the same source. The story goes that northern invaders overtook Linh nam, so after hearing his people call for his help. He arose from the sea in human disguise and visted the chief of the northern invaders. During his meeting, he had met a young beautiful woman, Au Co, the chief's daughter. They both fallen in love with each other that moment and Lac Long Quan carried Au Co to his palace. And soon after Au Co gave birth to 100 eggs, all males. Soon enough, Lac Long Quan's need for the ocean became too much and he and Au Co agreed to take 50 of their children with each other. Lac Long Quan took his 50 sons to the coast and taught them how to fish and farm rice while Au Co taught her 50 sons to raise livestock and grow fruit trees. According to Myths and Legends of South Asia and Southeast Asia, the people of Vietnam are said to have descended from these 100 sons, therefore calling themselves the children of the Dragon and the Fairy.
