Voodoo Serpent God Damballah

Damballah La Flambeau by Haitian Vodou priest Hector Hyppolite

Damballah is as Kallen describes,"as a snake traveling the arc that the sun makes across the sky during the day"(Kallen 79). Damballah created water when he shed his skin and is responsible for life giving rains. He is as a life giving god, the opposite of Ghede, a death god.

Male counterpart of Ayida. Kallen states that together they symbolize the "union of man and woman".
